Who We Are

Our approach

At Basecamp we understand the challenges of family life, whether that's juggling work, children, or finances; this is why Basecamp supports parents and carers with flexible booking options, and operates without commercial objectives so that fees are more affordable.

We are proud to uphold values of community and inclusivity; to be a childcare provider with purpose.

Our approach at Basecamp is child-led to develop young imaginations and encourage curiosity. We are passionate about play and serious about fun!

Who We Are

Our Story

Under the leadership of Lucie Murphy, a civic award-winner and mum from East Greenwich, the Basecamp team is composed of local professionals dedicated to childcare and their community.
These include ex-teachers, childminders, sports coaches, play workers, and Special Educational Needs (SEN) specialists. Together, they bring a wealth of knowledge, and a combined 25 years of experience to the table.Basecamp, a non-profit organisation with a focus on community values, has been providing quality childcare services since May 2022. Our journey began at The Bridge in East Greenwich, where we were selected through a tender process for our shared community values. Our services, including breakfast, after-school and holiday club provisions for children aged 4-11, were so well-received, we were awarded a second contract with South Rise Primary School in June 2024. Our reputation for inclusivity and affordability, has led to Basecamp becoming the preferred provider at De Lucy Primary School in Abbey Wood, where we are operating an after school and holiday club. Basecamp, is a non-profit organisation with no commercial aims and is entirely dedicated to quality of care and the support of local families. Under our financial model, the profits from our services are re-invested in the communities we serve, delivering better outcomes for children.
Basecamp Director

Lucie Murphy

I've been the Director of Basecamp since we began in 2022, but first and foremost I'm a mum of two daughters, so I really understand how important it is for parents and carers to have reliable childcare in place, and certainty that their child (ren) are safe, happy and well looked after, and this is what we offer at Basecamp, where we're passionate about play and serious about fun!

Available before and after school and during school holidays, Basecamp childcare is provided by our experienced and enthusiastic teams of childcare professionals, who take a child-led approach at our safe and secure settings at The Bridge, South Rise Primary and De Lucy Primary, where children have the freedom to play, rest, read, explore, be creative, and in term time, start and finish their school day with freshly prepared nutritious breakfasts, snacks and teas.

With Basecamp Childcare, parents and carers can be confident that their child (ren) will enjoy the time they spend with us, that we'll do as much as we can to accommodate parents' and carers' requirements with flexible booking options, and because we're a childcare provider with purpose, offer more affordable fees because we operate without any commercial aims.

What this means is that, unlike a typical provider, Basecamp has a financial model which gives partner schools an additional revenue stream to invest directly in positive outcomes for their children.

If you're a parent or carer who'd like to discuss your childcare arrangements, or visit Basecamp to see us in action at any of our sites, then I'd love to hear from you so please do get in touch.
